The Future of Electric Aviation

Thursday 25th July 2019

I am thrilled to announce another accomplishment following the completion of the Solar Impulse round-the-world flight of 2016! Our new company, H55, is unveiling its “zero-emission” electric aircraft designed for pilot training.

As a two-seater airplane, it has an endurance of an hour and a half, which is ideal for a training flight of 45 to 60 minutes with enough reserve, correspondent to typical flight school missions.

Despite the increasing demand for new pilots, the young generation is becoming reluctant to train with combustion engine aircrafts. They eagerly look for new, clean technologies, and electric propulsion is fulfilling their aspiration. This technology is a big step towards clean aviation. By having many electric airplanes flying, H55 will be able to collect big data on battery and electric systems.

All this experience will allow us to develop reliable and certified electric propulsion solutions to enable the commercialisation of VTOLs and flying taxis. These technologies will transform urban mobility and improve the way we live and move.
