The west coast was the starting point of Charles Lindbergh - the first to fly across the USA, I always thought of him when he had to make tough choices when designing his airplane. Many before him attempted to build an airplane that could fly with two pilots. However, he understood that payload was an issue and figured out that he needed more fuel on board. Similar thoughts crossed my mind when we started designing Solar Impulse
